God is incredibly generous. His way of being and living constantly challenges and encourages me. God’s divine power provides everything needed to follow Him and live for Him.
His divine power restores us into good standing with His holiness. Jesus Christ expressed God’s divine power by taking on death and destruction from the beginning of time and defeating it. Through Jesus, sin is forgiven and a pure relationship with God is possible.
Generosity An attribute of God
Life and beauty and the capacity he gave us to enjoy them – all this God still gives and sustains, because he is still generous. As with each of his attributes, what God is, he is always and completely. God’s generosity is enduring.
We don’t often hear about generosity when we study the attributes of God. But we do hear about his lovingkindness and his goodness. His generosity is just the overflow of this love and goodness, motivating him to give.
Give as God Has Given to You
Culture tells us only to give to those who deserve it, to those who have earned the right, who have proven themselves worthy of a gift. But that’s not the heart of Jesus.
Jesus taught His followers to give to everyone who asks, to let people keep what they take from you, and to bless those who curse you (Luke 6:27-31). In essence, Jesus asks us to do for others what He did for us.
How Receiving Generosity
God is generous with His words. We are not left guessing about God and his expectations. The Bible shows us the very nature of God and challenges us to trust Him. We are to follow His commandments and live in obedience. God loves us. His ways are meant to bless and encourage.
God is generous with His strength. Even in our weakness, God brings His strength to bear on our lives. His strength picks us up when we fail and fall.
