Have you ever wondered: Does God hear my prayers? And if He does, can He actually respond? Will He answer?
The simple answer is YES, God hears your prayers. An ever-present, all-knowing God will hear every word from your mouth, thought in your mind and whisper of your heart.
Firstly, remember that our way to God is through Jesus. When we follow Jesus, we become children of God and we begin to understand His ways. Not only does He hear you, but He cares about you as a Father cares for His own children.
Maybe you’ve been asking God for something for years and nothing has changed. You feel tired and confused. Or maybe you are afraid to share your needs with Him – you worry that He doesn’t care.
Jesus was encouraging His disciples to pray and to ask their Heavenly Father for what they need. He said, “Ask and it will be given to you, seek and you will find, knock and the door will be opened to you.”(Matthew 7,)
So don’t lose heart. Keep praying. Pray with confidence. And as you pray, don’t just tell God what you want, but also ask Him what He wants. Ask Him to transform your heart. He will do it!
God does hear our prayers. It may be that the answer He is giving is for you not to give up praying, it may be to stop certain sins in your life, it may be a silence that calls you closer in order to learn the sound of His still small voice. But He hears.
“O Hearer of prayer, to you people of all sorts will come.”(Psalm 65:2).
If you feel like your prayers are hitting the ceiling, be quiet with God instead and know that God is near (Philippians 4:5).
