How to Please God

Every good gift we have has come from God, and He wants to give us “pleasure forevermore.” In gratitude for all He does for us, what can you and I do to please Him?
Do you live a life that is pleasing to God at all times? What are your aims and goals for this year with regards to your walk with the Lord? If you are like me, you likely desire to please God in all you do. As much as I desire to please God with all my actions, there are the looming reminders of my weaknesses and just how impossible it is for me.

Doing God’s will pleases God

What is God’s will? God’s desires, His commands and His plans are expressed throughout the Bible. In fact, the Bible was given to us to show us His will and to help us in a sense read His mind. Studying the Bible, meditating on it and praying about it are keys to gaining deeper understanding of His will.
Jesus Christ set the ultimate example of doing God’s will when He faced the terrible scourging and crucifixion for our sins, yet prayed, “Nevertheless not My will, but Yours, be done” (Luke 22:42). He was willing to give Himself totally to show His love and to do His Father’s will.

Everything to God’s glory

It was then that I made the decision: In all the work I do and situations I come into, I choose to serve .I will not let thoughts and complexes of what others think of me determine what I do and how I act. I live for God. If there is any honor due from anything I achieve, who should have the honor. “Therefore, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.” (1 Corinthians 10:31).

The benefits of pleasing God

we can never come close to scratching the surface of what He has done for us—much less what He wants to do for us. In this life He offers awesome benefits, such as this general principle.
Still, in this life Christians will face persecution and tribulation, but as Jesus Christ said, “These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.”

The Work of God That Pleases God

God equips us by working in us that which pleases him. The participial phrase “working in us that which is pleasing in his sight” (Hebrews 13:21) defines how God equips the saints to do his will. God does not equip us by giving us equipment to go work for him; rather, he equips us by taking residence in us and himself working his will in us. Not only that, he takes pleasure in what he does in us. The work that pleases is the work of God in us (Philippians 2:12–13).
