Located in the giant forest of California’s Sequoia National Park, this huge sequoia tree was named after President Warren G. Harding in 1923.
With a height of 247 feet (75 m) and a base diameter of 27 feet (8.2 m), this massive tree has a trunk volume of 45,000 cubic feet (1,300 m3) with an additional 9,000 cubic feet (250 m3) of branches. That makes it the second largest sequoia tree in the world. Besides this, this tree is one of the fastest growing trees in the world. This is a cubic meter of wood growth every year.
The main specialty of this tree is its age. Steve Sillet, a research scientist at Humboldt State University, confirmed the tree’s size, volume and age.
It has been confirmed to be 3,200 years old and is the oldest living sequoia found. Another interesting fact is that its massive branches hold 2 billion needles. It is considered the maximum that any tree on Earth can hold.
This 3,200-year-old presidential tree is rarely quite difficult to capture in a single photo. The reason for that is its size and volume.
