Let’s start with the big and obvious one. Jesus is our ultimate example of what it means to be a peacemaker. The whole Bible is centered around this fact. Humans rebelled against God, and with His blood, Jesus paid the price to restore peace between a rebellious creation and their loving creator.
Since being a peacemaker is such a great thing in the eyes of God, you may be wondering exactly what it means to be a peacemaker.
It’s not easy to work for peace in our family relationships or in our community, but as Christians, we are called to it. Are you ready for the fruit that comes from peacemaking?
GOD’S PRESENCE
(2 Corinthians 13:11)Finally, brothers, rejoice. Aim for restoration, comfort one another, agree with one another, live in peace; and the God of love and peace will be with you.
THE PROMISE OF REWARD AND ADOPTION
(Luke 6:35 ) But love your enemies, do good to them, and lend to them without expecting to get anything back. Then your reward will be great, and you will be children of the Most High, because he is kind to the ungrateful and wicked.
PEACEMAKER USES THE MOUTH TO BLESS,NOT CURSE
(Ephesians 4:29 )Don’t let any evil talk come out of your mouths. Say only what will help to build others up and meet their needs. Then what you say will help those who listen.”
A PEACEMAKER KNOWS THE NEEDS OF YOUR NEIGHBORS AND COMMUNITY AND WORK TO HELP MEET NEEDS
(James 1:26-27)“Here are the beliefs and the way of life that God our Father accepts as pure and without fault. When widows are in trouble, take care of them. Do the same for children who have no parents. And don’t let the world make you impure.”
PEACEMAKER APPROACHES EVERYONE YOU MEET WITH EMPATHY AND COMPASSION
(Matthew 28:16-20)“All authority in heaven and on earth has been giving to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”
THE PROMISE OF RIGHTEOUSNESS
(James 3:18) And a harvest of righteousness is sown in peace by those who make peace.
