What did I do wrong? Why has God allowed me to go through such hard times? Does He not care about me? Am I saved?” To be honest we have all felt a little something like this
Someone once asked why bad things happen to good people. When we give our lives to Christ sometimes there is this notion that we are entering into this good life that has no problems. As we continue on in our salvation, we realize that we are also faced with the same challenges and problems that all humanity goes through. Christ’s redemption through the cross did not mean that we will not suffer, but it equips us to face suffering.
God’s discipline
(Hebrews 12:5-11) “And have you completely forgotten this word of encouragement that addresses you as a father addresses his son? It says, “My son, do not make light of the Lord’s discipline, and do not lose heart when he rebukes you, because the Lord disciplines the one he loves, and he chastens everyone he accepts as his son.” Endure hardship as discipline; God is treating you as his children. For what children are not disciplined by their father? If you are not disciplined—and everyone undergoes discipline—then you are not legitimate, not true sons and daughters at all.
To Make Us Better
Though trials and tribulations are difficult and painful, when God allows them into our lives they produce good virtues in us like patience and maturity.
My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience. But let patience have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing (James 1:2-4)
It helps with developing character
because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope. And hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us. You see, at just the right time, when we were still powerless, Christ died for the ungodly.
To Help us Know God’s Word
As we go through trials and tribulations most times we will seek for answers and solutions in God’s word, and in the process, we are able to know more of His word.
It is good for me that I have been afflicted, that I may learn Your statutes (Psalms 119:71)
