Strength for Your Weakness

Have you ever truly experienced Gods power taking over your weakness? There are times that we experience storms and resistance in our lives. This usually overwhelms us and sometimes we feel completely crashed. There is a point in life that everything seems to go the wrong way. At this point you always feel like all your energy is gone and there is nothing left for you to do. You do not know if you should give up or press in. Sometimes you even try to think if it is God making you slow down or if its the enemy that is coming against you

God’s promises to us are like gems we find all throughout the Bible. They are reminders, not only about what He does and will do, but about who He is. They are about the deep goodness of His character and faithfulness.

The Lord works in weakness

The Bible is full of people who were weak at times, just like us. Whether it is Joseph’s boasting which led to his brother’s betraying him, the apostle Paul beaten and put in prison for preaching the gospel, or Peter denying Jesus three times, there are fallible people in the pages of Scripture. However, Joseph became the governor of Egypt, Paul’s letters form a large part of the New Testament that we read today, and Peter was reinstated and began the early church. It can be comforting to know that the Lord is at work in our weakest moments and He has a plan and a purpose

The Lord said to Paul: “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness” (2 Corinthians 12:9). In order for Christ’s power to work in us we must be in submission to Him, even when we are weak. When we are weak, we are allowing ourselves to humbly depend on a God who is able to align our will to His. It is an opportunity for us to participate in the divine plans God has for the world

God’s strength is made perfect in weakness

The very thing that is making Paul weak is the very thing that God is using to show His power through Paul’s life. Our weakness is the key to God’s strength in our lives.
We experience God’s grace and strength the most in our weakness. Once Paul grasps this truth, we see a shift in his heart and perspective on suffering. Where he initially pleaded with God multiple times to take away this thorn and messenger from Satan, he now says that he is glad about his weakness. He adds:
“For the sake of Christ, then, I am content with weaknesses, insults, hardships, persecutions, and calamities. For when I am weak, then I am strong.” (2 Corinthians 12:10)

A Prayer for God’s Power

Oh, God, today help us to live with faith. May it not be said of us that our faith is too small, or to help us to look to You, to see in You, Your infinite power. Your infinite glory, and greatness, and grander, and majesty, Your infinite ability. Keep us, oh God, from trusting in our power. Help us to trust in Your power. Help us to pray accordingly as we pray, even right now. God, help us to realize we’re talking to You, the king of the universe that has all authority and all power, who’s sovereignly ruling and reigning over all things. Help us not to underestimate You in our praying. As we pray for others, as we serve others, help us to do that cognizant of Your power.

But there are promises of God I can turn to which encourage me. In( Isaiah 40) we read: “(God) gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak.” A couple of verses later it goes on to say, “Those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength.”

What power there is in those words! They remind me to trust God to provide everything I need in the moment. You can trust Him too, with all that you are facing today.
