Many people feel guilty for feeling bad. They think, “I’ve got food, a job, and friends. I shouldn’t feel like this. This isn’t ok. I should feel grateful for what I have. ”Another common reaction to feeling bad is trying to reframe your feelings into something positive.
We know that God is good and that ultimately good does triumph over evil, but sometimes we see so much of the bad, that our souls can easily become tired. Just reading the news and seeing so much evil in our world leaves me wishing Jesus would return soon, really soon. What can we do when we feel this way?
Go To God In Prayer
we can pray to God and thank Him for all the goodness, even what we do not see. Ask Him to be with you and help you to see His hand working in all things and ask Him to lift up your weary soul and give you hope. He sees what is happening and His heart grieves too. Pray also for what is going on in the world. Sometimes, we can feel helpless to do anything about such big problems. We must remember that prayer is never too little.
Don’t Lose Hope
Paul reminded Titus that Jesus’ first coming brought salvation and it instructs us how to live “sensible, righteous, and godly” lives in this present age. It is our “blessed hope”—the expectation of Jesus’ return—that compels us to do so (Titus 2:11-13).
Read Your Bible
God’s Word has the power to restore your faith. Read His story of redemption again. We often think what is happening in our world today has not happened before, but since the first sin people have been doing what they saw was right in their own eyes.
Encourage One Another
The promise that “the Lord will descend from heaven with a shout” in(1Thessalonians 4:16) is followed by a command: “Therefore encourage one another with these words” (1Thess. 4:18). Again, the affirmation that “the day of the Lord will come just like a thief in the night” (1 Thess. 5:2) is followed by the exhortation: “Therefore encourage one another and build each other up”.
Shine God’s Light
When all we see is the world as a sad, dark place we must remember that this is not God’s way. God has made us to shine His light and declare His goodness in the world. One of the best ways we do this is by loving others, even people we may not agree with. Be kind and loving towards others, but also be truthful and tell them of God’s great love!
