We all want to live life to the fullest. For different people that means different things. Do you know that Jesus wants us to live life to the fullest too?
What Jesus means by having a full life probably looks a lot different than most people think of when they hear that term. Most people see living life to the fullest as basically doing whatever you please when you please. To be clear the life that Jesus is talking about is not a carefree life of wealth, health, and no problems to be seen.
The abundant life Jesus wants us to have is one of joy, peace, and knowledge that we belong to Him! We are able to live life to the fullest because the Holy Spirit is living within us, the Word of God guides us on our path and we are no longer slaves to our sin. We live life abundantly when we let Jesus redeem us and make us new!
What Are the Characterticists of this Abundant Life
Unlike the Pharisees and other religious leaders, Jesus can impart life: Abundant and everlasting life. The reason Jesus imparts abundant life to those who believe in Him is because He laid down His life for them (John 10:11).
(John 10:17-18), Jesus stated “the reason my Father loves me is that I lay down my life — only to take it up again. No one takes it from me, but I lay it down of my own accord. I have authority to lay it down and authority to take it up again. This command I received from my Father.”
Jesus fights for us abundantly
for the Lord your God is he who goes with you to fight for you against your enemies, to give you the victory.” – (Deuteronomy 20:4)
Unless you are serving in the military, you probably will not be going to war anytime soon, right? Wrong. You already are at war. You’re fighting a battle against your enemies every day. And just as God was with the Israelites, God goes with you to fight for you against your enemies.
An Abundance of Spiritual Blessings
Because Jesus came into the world to die in the place of sinners and then to rise to life again, those who believe in Him can have new life (2 Corinthians 5:17). This new life that Jesus gives is both eternal and full.
Believers have the promise of living forever with God after death (John 3:16) Joshua 11:25) and presently enjoys eternal life through an everlasting relationship with the Lord (John 17:3)
